Who we are

RatingReady is a trading name of Alfie Dodridge, [trading address to be confirmed], who is the data controller and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Contact: [reply email to be confirmed].

If we wrote to your business

We took your business name, address, inspection date and the three inspection scores from the Food Standards Agency's public register at ratings.food.gov.uk, which is published under the Open Government Licence. We did not buy a list or use any other source.

We use these details to send your business one letter, and at most one follow-up, offering our service. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: we offer a service directly relevant to a published rating, by post, to the business address the register already shows. We considered your interests and kept what we hold to the minimum: no phone numbers, no personal email addresses and no profiling beyond the published scores.

Our printing and posting provider, Intelliprint, receives the name and address to print and post the letter. We keep the details of businesses that don't reply for twelve months, then delete them.

To stop all contact, email [reply email to be confirmed] with the code on your letter, or write to us. We will keep only your register ID on a suppression list so that we never write again.

If you become a customer

We hold the details you give us (contact name, email, phone, menu, photos, inspection letter) to write and support your food safety system, and payment records to meet tax law. Our lawful basis is contract, and legal obligation for tax records. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. We keep customer records for six years after the last payment, as tax law requires, and delete working files such as photos after 24 months.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our use of it. Email [reply email to be confirmed]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
